Solar Control Glass

Solar Control Glass

Often used in glass roofs, Solar Control Glass reflects the heat energy from the Sun, whilst allowing as much of the light through as possible, for improved comfort all year round.

This is achieved by applying a coating by means of ‘cathodic sputtering’ in a vacuum of several layers of metal oxides onto clear finished glass. This coating acts mainly as a heat mirror, although, as it does reflect some light, there will be a glare off the glass on sunny days.

Most of the Solar Control Glass available has a slight tint, usually blue but also grey or bronze. Samples of these can be seen in our Twickenham showroom.
